Around every corner you can find webinars, seminars, books, and articles about how to help people find success in their lives. We all desire to find what we define our success to be. There are also, many of us who struggle with finding what we call success. Whether it’s in a career, finances, or running a business, we each have our own definition of what success looks like. I would argue, that too often, in today’s social media world, success is measured by what we see on Facebook. What do others appear to have? What many of us have missed out on is what actually brings success in the first place. We are missing out on the actual formula that creates success for us.
We all are passionate about something. It’s just we are too busy, in our daily lives, to slow down and take a moment to understand what that passion is. Whether it is a cause or issue, we are passionate about something. Take a moment and jot down on a piece of paper what you are always researching, looking up on the internet, commenting on in social media, or day-dreaming about? Answer: What are the common themes? What are you constantly drawn to? What are you compelled to comment on? What subjects, no matter how polarizing your position might be, are magnetizing to you? You may not need to go through this process. If you truly have a passion, what that passion is may just jump right out at you. That is a good thing.
This can be a tough one to know. Far too many people, these days, are not aware of what their purpose is. Because of society’s definition of success, there are many people working in great paying jobs, but left with something missing. They have either abandoned, or never found their calling. I have written in the past about finding your purpose. I would also recommend Simon Sinek’s book “Start With Why” if you are struggling with finding your purpose. Life without a purpose is very unfulfilling. Take the time to find your purpose. There is no time like the present. Read my blog post “Live Your Purpose in 2016” from 12/29/15 (http://agogeleadershipdevelopment.com/blog/live-your-purpose-in-2016-and-for-the-rest-of-your-life). It will help you begin to discover what your purpose is.
THE POWER TO PERSEVERE
Once you know your PASSION and you discover your PURPOSE, you now have the POWER TO PERSEVERE. Success is found by those who have overcome countless failures along their paths to success. The greatest innovators, entrepreneurs, inventors, and leaders have all failed countless times. The difference between them and everyone else is they had a passion and a purpose. For many successful people throughout history, money came as a result of their pursuit of their passion and purpose, not as their objective.
Walt Disney had his brother worry about the finances of building Walt Disney World. Walt, himself, continuously dreamed and created. He had a passion for fantasy and a purpose to create a society where everyone could live in peace and harmony. He mortgaged his house for his dreams. He walked on the edge of bankruptcy for his passion and purpose. Money was not the objective, but it was a tremendous result.
It is easy to persevere when you are passionate and have a purpose. It’s not work. It’s living.
PASSION + PURPOSE = THE POWER TO PERSEVERE will produce your SUCCESS.
