Are you someone who has read the books, attended the workshops, and bought the CD/DVD programs that tell you how to be a better leader, and they gave you tools or techniques you should use in your daily leadership activities? Have you ever watched those videos that show a manager doing it wrong, and then followed with a scene showing him doing it right? But, the part that shows him doing it right makes you feel uncomfortable, or a sense that it’s not authentic? All the words they say sound right, but there is something that is off. I always felt this way when I watch videos like that. I have news for you. You and I are not wrong for feeling this way. Tools and videos have all the right intentions, and have value, but they can’t model the important elements and principles of leadership.
If your thoughts and actions are not genuine, then your people feel you are not being authentic and genuine with them. You can say and do all the right things, but if you are not genuine and authentic, your people can see right through you. They will feel apprehensive and question your intentions. They may even feel that you are trying to manipulate them. Who you are, as a leader, is communicated overwhelmingly more in your body language and tone over the actual words you use. This is where trust is lost, or never established in the first place. You may be following all the tools and techniques you were taught in that last workshop you attended, but for some reason, you can’t figure out why it’s not working for you. You follow the models and the checklists, but you can tell that there is something amiss when you engage the people who report to you. What if I told you there was a way to increase your influence as a leader that allowed you to be yourself? That there is a way to draw on who you are and what you believe and lead people from a place that is authentically YOU? Would you want to learn that way?
Leadership is not based on tools and techniques. It’s based on morals and values. Influence is established through how we make people feel. It’s established when what we believe is demonstrated in our decisions and actions. It’s through raised self-awareness, increased responsibility, and the development of accountability that you can grow your influence as a leader, and there is one method that is rapidly growing in the leadership development world, and that method is leadership coaching.
Leadership coaching has become the most effective method for helping people raise their influence. Studies have shown that the average person will forget 87% of what they were taught in a normal training course within 4 weeks. Coaching counters that with you, the participant, discovering the answers for yourself. Through probing, thought provoking questions, you tap into your own wisdom and raised awareness. You learn and retain what you need to know in order to grow and transform your leadership. It is truly a process of discovery and transformation. The key to the success of the coaching process is your level of commitment, and I am not just talking about a financial commitment. I’m talking more about time and effort. Anyone can invest funds for a course or program. It’s the time, effort, and thought where commitment is tested.
So, my questions are these:

If you are a young professional who desires to put your career on a fast track and you want to make sure that you meet every advancement with the kind of leadership that builds momentum, or if you are a small business owner who would like to attract and retain the right people to help you sustainably grow your business, or a medium sized organization that has decided that it is time to invest in developing a culture of leaders in order to break through a growth plateau; click here to receive 50% savings off the normal investment for my coaching services. This opportunity will expire at midnight on September 3rd, 2016. Now, more than ever, is the time to make a commitment to transform your life and grow your influence.
As a U.S. Marine, I will not show you how you should lead. I will hold up a mirror and show you the leader you are, and hold you accountable to transforming into the leader you wish to be. Only people of courage and commitment are willing to embark on a journey like that. Are you one of them?
I look forward to sharing in your journey of discovery and transformation.
