There are countless posts all over social media on how to become a better leader. Tips to improve your leadership, traits of an effective leader, daily activities of an effective leader, etc... I am not discounting them of not having value, but I do ask this: Do you follow this information blindly? Or, are you taking this information and applying it to your personality and reality?
We are all unique individuals, and that also goes for how unique we are in how we lead people, and more importantly, ourselves. The toughest person to lead is ourselves. We know better than anyone how to fool ourselves, and to sabotage ourselves and our thinking. I can share with you how I lead myself. It may interest you, but very little of how I influence myself would help you influence yourself.
You see, the key to leading ourselves is not WHAT we think, but in HOW we think. All the answers to all your questions reside within you. The problem with our modern society is that we inundate our minds with unbelievable amounts of interference. From TV to social media, etc... I just saw recently that it would take a super computer minutes to process what our minds can process in just seconds, and yet we defer to the slower computers to do more thinking for us. You are sitting on the most powerful super computer in the world.
I will give you the only advice you truly need to become a better leader: "You are already have the answers of how to become a better leader." You have brilliant thoughts on a daily basis. You have dismissed countless ideas that could have revolutionized the world. You just neglected to lead yourself in making them into reality. You are not alone. I have too. Begin today in conquering the self-defeating internal dialogue we all engage in.
Overcome, and lead yourself.
