As Americans, we have always said that we are the leader for freedom in the world. We have always referred to ourselves as “the city on the hill.” We were known as a people who were uncompromising when it came to our values, beliefs, and principles. We were a symbol of freedom, prosperity, and opportunity. Each and every American had the rights and freedoms that millions have laid down their lives for. What kind of leader suffered the greatest miscarriage of freedom the world has ever known?
A leader is someone who sets the example for others to follow. A leader is someone who gives people hope when hope is most scarce. A leader is someone who steps forward in the face of fear and becomes a source of courage. A leader is uncompromising with their values, principles, and beliefs, and a leader knows that there will be those who oppose them and criticize them for doing so. A leader takes responsibility for their actions, and is always seeking responsibility. A leader studies the past, understands the present, so they can form a vision for the future. A leader is a communicator who connects with their people, at the same time, challenging them to do more, and strive to be more. A leader tirelessly pushes their people to strive for greatness and nothing less.
I ask my fellow America Citizens: Have we lost this level of influence in the world? We shy from our right to free speech every day in FEAR of offending others. We compromise our values, beliefs, and principles every day in an effort to “move forward.” We have young people cheering a Socialist, and yet, can’t answer a question that asks them to describe what Socialism is. We have an education system that attacks American values and principles and corrupts our children to believe that what made us the greatest country in the world is evil. As a citizenship base, we have low voter turnout for our elections. Less than half Americans vote, and then we complain about the people in Washington, DC, whom our lack of voting put there to begin with. We dodge responsibility from Wall Street, to Main Street, to Pennsylvania Avenue. Freedom around the world is under attack. America and her people once were beacons for hope and safety. That beacon has dimmed.
I ask you, as a fellow American, to look within, to look to our true history, look at today, and decide where we are to go. We can still be leaders in the world, because leadership is rooted in our character. I believe that is where we can salvage our greatness. I believe the American people have the character to not go where the rest of the world so easily has retreated to. We are a nation of immigrants whose forefathers founded on Christian beliefs. Today, we are David fighting Goliath. I ask the American Citizen to rise up as a leader in the world, an example of hope, who has uncompromising values and principles, and who takes responsibility for the freedoms God has given us and our Founding Fathers were wise enough to protect with the Constitution. I challenge us all to step forward as a unified people against the foreign and domestic threats to America and lead the world once again.
